Among the oldest, best known and most effective thermal practices, mud-balneotherapy is a natural method that has always been used to concretely address all those problems that intervene in movement, limiting it, and to treat and improve disorders of the motor and osteoarticular systems such as muscle tension and contractures, rheumatic pain or due to arthrosis, joint stiffness, tendinitis and localized inflammation, particularly in the joints.
The anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and detoxifying effects of the mud, combined with the muscle-relaxing, rebalancing and moisturizing effects of the thermal bath, make fangobalneotherapy one of the curative treatments par excellence, with beneficial effects in the immediate but especially in the long term.
The mud and baths department of the spa has 40 cabins and numerous tubs equipped with whirlpools that promote circulation and relaxation of the muscles and allow the properties of the waters of Monticelli Terme to be assimilated to the fullest, completing the full recovery of well-being.
Application of a hot compound (about 40 °C) of clay, matured for several months in special tubs with thermal water from Monticelli, on certain parts of the body, for a beneficial myorelaxant and analgesic action.
It is followed by a salso-bromo-iodine water bath in a single tub.
The mud is performed once a day and is applied to the areas to be treated for a varying duration of 15 to 20 minutes, followed by a 10-minute immersion in bromine and iodine-salt water and a reaction period on the couch of about 10 minutes .

The bromine-iodine-salt bath is a thermal water treatment used to effectively combat chronic inflammatory processes of the osteoarticular, gynecological, and peripheral circulatory systems.
Bromine-bromine-iodine salt water has a beneficial anti-inflammatory effect and facilitates general rebalancing, and has a reducing effect on the degenerative process of joint cartilage, making this treatment particularly suitable for the treatment of arthrotic forms, with and without osteoporosis.
Performed once a day, the thermal bath lasts approximately 20 minutes, according to the spa doctor’s prescription.

In the case of mud-balneotherapy treatments that use very hot water or mud, it is essential to take advantage of the special predisposition of the muscle and joint strips to receive physiotherapy, massage therapy, or rehabilitation treatments to combine reactivating, therapeutic, or localized massages with the scheduled treatments.
